Taking information from another Excel document

Say I have a number in B20 in a file called points.xls, and I want that number to appear in a file called picks.xls. How do I go about doing this. Sorry if this is simple and has been asked...

In picks.xls, select the cell you want to contain the number. Type =, then use the windows menu to select points.xls, select B20, then hit enter. Formula should look like
='[points.xls]Sheet1'!$B$20
