Sum a series that has #N/A in it

How do I have a sum of a series of cells, if the answer in
some of the cells is #n/a?
I have used conditional formatting to get the #n/a not to appear.
But I don't know how to get it to be excluded from the sum of the series...

=SUMIF(A1:A10,"<>#N/A")

I had a feeling I needed to use SUMIF, but I wasn't sure how.
