Slow Re-Calc times

I have a 3Meg file which has Dsums, Lookups etc. When I hit f9 to recalc it takes 3-4 seconds. I have recently replaced alot of the DSUMS with CSE formula's and got rid of the DSUMs completely which brings the file size to under 1Meg.
The problem I have now is the recalc takes 15-20 seconds.
Is there anything I can do or is it due to the nature of CSE functions that this is how slow life will be now??

Just curious: Is there a particular reason you dumped DSUMs, except a willingness to experiment with array formulas?

Basically I have this type of formula:-
=SUM(IF(CSE_Code=$A50,IF(CSE_Loctn=$M$6,CSE_ExtdSell,0),0))
I have this in 400+ cells and the base data it looks at is around 700 rows deep x 3 columns.
