Percentages

Hi - probably a very simple solution - but I can't figure it out and the Excle help is futile ! Could somebody please tell me the formula for working out a percentage figure from two colums, ie, one column is for say #1000 and the next for #100 - how do I get the third column to tell me that this works out at 10% !!! Any help gratefully received.

=B1/A1

and format C1 as percentage.

Hi Denise--

Excel dont have percentage function as such, prob get told off saying that but try this
A1 = 1000
B1 = 100

Looking for 100 ie 10% try this enter exactly this
in ANY other cell say D6

=B1/A1

result is 10%, change A1 value and re calculate the result. Remember percentages are normally 100-0% range so it the smaller devided by the larger to get percentage, not other way arrond.

Some times you will go large devided by small but that not common..
