Could someone translate this formula into plain English, please, and tell me exactly what data it's taking from where and putting where?

=SUMIF(Balances!$A:$A,Front!$B33,Balances!B:B)

Ann,

The formula looks at column A on sheet Balances for the value of B33 on sheet Front. If it finds this B33-value in column A say in some row, it sums the corresponding value in the same row in column B.
