copy/paste incorrect

when i copy a formula, only the value copies, not the formula. i've tried paste special but that doesn't work either. if i type the formula manually, it works.
please help.

It could be that where you are trying to paste special formula is formatted as a 'text' cell. Reformat as 'general' or other.

I know this might sounds stupid, but I've had the same thing happen to me because I tried to paste to the cell instead of the formula window. Make sure to copy from AND paste to the formula window for best results.
