Locking column width

I am developing an application that requires locking the column width. The catch, however, is that I want to allow editing of the cells in that column that has the locked width. I have figured out how to lock everything (contents, width, etc.), but can't lock soley the width.

Any help would be great! Thanks.

If highlight the cells that you want to be able to edit, click Format, Cells and then choose the Protection tab. If you then uncheck the Locked check box and click OK and then choose Tools, Protection, Protect Sheet you will find that you cannot change the column width but you can still edit those cells formatted as unlocked.
