Conditional formatting limits ?

It seems that if the contents of a cell exceed a certain number of characters (255 ?), conditional formatting of that cell fails and the cell format reverts to the conditional format, regardless of whether the condition is or isn't met.

Is this correct ? Can it be overcome ?

Robert,
I believe you are correct. I know Excel cells have a character limit of 255. Beyond that, Excel will not print, copy, or paste the characters in the cell (only the first 255). So, while I didn't know conditional formatting was affected, it doesn't surprise me. To my knowledge, there's no way around the 255 character limit.
