Scatter chart with error bars using standard deviations

I want to make a scatter chart with error bars...but each point in the chart will be the average value from a series of tests. I would like the y-axis error bars to show the standard deviation of the tests for each point - not the standard deviation for the series (which is the option given by excel...) Thanks in advance for any help - I'm stumped.

Tricky, but...
...probably could be accomplished using a Line chart
instead of X-Y, and adding the error-bars as separate,
individual series. These kinds of contortions
is exemplified by the attempt to create an unsupported
