Recovering damaged excel file

A co-worker was working with an excel 97 file when she got a NT 4.0 Blue Screen Memory Dump that crashed the pc so she had to reboot. When she tried to go back into the file it gives a message that "the file is not in recognizable format" and if you click ok it opens up to garbled text. It is saved as a .xls file. Any suggestions on what to do to try and recover the data? thanks in advance

You can use the excelfix utility to recover your
Excel data.
