Invalid page fault error

I get an illegal operation error with the following detail when I highlight a column by clicking on the column letter(ie A) and then clicking on format cells. What is causing this? Can anyone help? I am using Excel 97 SR-2.

I'm have an almost identical issue that's only popped up in the last couple of weeks. Whenever I try to format a cell (be it through "format cell" or just by clicking on something like the text centering button) I get an invalid page fault error. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and that doesn't seem to help. I've got Service Release 2 on there now but the same problem shows up under either service release. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

I do not get this problem until I am doing things in Excel for a while. However, if I restart my PC. The problem no longer exists until later. Any help out there?

Nope, happens even when I reboot, etc. Thanks, though. Anybody else have any ideas? This is driving me insane.
