Is there a way to make an excel document default the current date in a cell.

put =today() in the cell and format cell for date. Everytime you open the worksheet and whenever it is recalculated you will get the current date.

Having used the =today(), I want to be able to refer to the cell with that function in and then don't want the date in the new cell to change when the system date changes to the following day. What do I do please?

I have tried to use the =text function but cannot make that work either.

HELP PLEASE.

I think any formula reference you make to the cell with =TODAY() will change when the day changes. You can manually copy the date by using EDIT > Paste Special > and checking value.

Could you give a little more info on what youo are trying to do?
