Excel Validation & Word conversion

like your pages a lot! was wondering if you know a way to do 2 things in MS Excel:

1- to allow free text at times when using a drop down box created using validation (or an alternate way)

2- have Excel convert numbers autmatically to text
eg if a cell contains $4.01 the reference cell would automatically display - Four Dollars and one cent

RE 1- to allow free text at times when using a drop down box created using validation (or an alternate way)

Go to Data/Validation/Error Alert and clear the box show error alert after invalid data is entered

RE 2- have Excel convert numbers autmatically to text
