Excel autofilter recovery time

After using the autofilter and instructing a field filter to 'show all', it takes a looong time to 'calculate cells' to be usable again. Is there a way to hurry this along? I'm talking many minutes of the flippin' hour glass here. It's really a big delay that is seriously manifested in some macros causing them to take 20 - 60 minutes to run. Any suggestions?

You need to take a hard look at the formula's you're
using. Can you replace them with resulting values?
Can you lookups (i.e., MATCH(), VLOOKUP(), etc.) be
optimized?
