Disable Cell Selection

I have a sheet with buttons on and gridlines hidden. Is there a way to stop user clicking all cells, therefore they don't become selected.

Yes, in the VB editor (Alt + F11 from Excel), select the sheet you're working on (Sheet1 for example) and in the properties window, in "Enable Selection" choose from "xlUnlocked Cells" or "xlNoSelection".

You'll have to protect the sheet in order to make this work.
