Stacked Bar Charts

I am having trouble with a stacked bar chart. I am showing a data series for 12/97, 12/98, 12/99, 12/00, 06/01, and 07/01. I want to add another stacked bar next to 6/01 and 7/01 only. I am doing a comparison of existing and future data for these months only. When I try to add the data, it just stacks the data on top of the existing 6/01 and 7/01 bars instead of next to it. Can anyone help?

Select a different chart type for the series

Hi,
This works for me. Go ahead and let excel stack the series. THen select that series and go to "Chart" in the menu bar. Select chart type option, and change it to the "regular" column type. I think that's what you're looking for.
Hope that helps

Re: Select a different chart type for the series

Thanks for responding. The only problem is that I need to show multiple stacked bars because I have to show a breakdown of a total and not just the total which would be accomplished with just the bar charts.

You need someone smarter than me to figure that one out!

...but don't worry, there are a lot of them on this board
BTW have you considered using pie charts instead?
