charts category access

I am attempting to set a static time line for the category axis on my chart and I am unable to do so. When using the chart wizard my data pulls random times for this. Does any one know how to modify the category axis other than using the format function?
Might I be setting up my spreadhseet incorrectly? I have each day of the month and times that a certain job hits our job queue. All that is on this chart is days of the month on the X axis, times of the job each day within the plot area and on the Y axis should be times from midnight to 10 AM.

1. Rick click on the X-axis and choose Format Axis...
2. Click on the Scale tab
3. Enter a Maximum and Minimum date

I tried that but I need to enter the maximum and minimum time not date. When I enter the time scale of 00:00 to say 11:00 it still deafaults to what it wants. I can't figure out the major unit, minor unit, category X crosses at ?, if it is logrithmic, or if I should enter that the category X crosses at the maximum value???
All I want to do is put in the times of say 00:00 to 11:30 in hour or even half hour increments. None of the jobs I am attempting to forecast fall on the top of the hour.... any ideas?

Temporarily reformat your Y values as "General".
Are they date/time values (e.g., 36892.3958333333)
or just time values (e.g., 0.395833333333333).
