=WORKDAY(A1,B1)

If you also want to exclude the holiday dates and such...

=WORKDAY(A1,B1,Exclude)

where Exclude refers to a range housing holiday dates.

Hi thanks for the quick response
tried this and just got the error message below

#NAME?

Is this because the workday function is not available in excel 2000
which is what I am using

"If this function is not available, run the Setup program to install the Analysis ToolPak. After you install the Analysis ToolPak, you must enable it by using the Add-Ins command on the Tools menu."
