earlier I installed windows xp excel 2002. recently I have also installed excel 2007.

now if I open any excel file it opens in excel 2007 which is default excel format, even though the was originally creaed in excel 2002.

I would like the files to open in excel 2002. When I use "open with" I have only one "microsoft excel" under recommended programmes. There is no other excel programme in thelist. Either I have to go to other programmes and browse and find out excel under office10 then it opens in excel 2002.

alternatively once I open excel 2002 subsequently all files open in excel 2002.

Is there any other easier way.

thanks

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Add a 2nd program when right clicking on the "whatever.xls" file

Rightclick Start
Explore
Tools
Folder Options
File Types
In the “registered file types” window, find the xls file type and highlight it (left click on it)
Advanced
New
Type in the action (Example: Open with 2007 or Open with 2002)
Browse
Find the executable file for the program. Highlight it by left clicking on it once.
Open
In the “Application used to perform action” window add a space and “%1”
OK
OK
Apply, OK

Glad to find out that it worked for you.
I should have mentioned that the "%1" needs to have the quotation marks.
