I'm very new to the excel formulas. I need to know when a formula is written in the following way;

=+A5*D5

what does '+' mean? I know its says multiply A5 to D5 but what does '+' mean?

Thanks ...

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
Doesn't mean anything special...

=A5*D5

+A5*D5

are equivalent...

The latter form can be easy to use with the num pad...

+ was used by other spreadsheets, Lotus 1-2-3 for example, to start a formula; excel uses =, but accepts (and ignores) the + simbol for compatibility with "old habits".

Bye.
