quick question, I have to place a water mark saying "draft" behind the sheet, can anyone remind me how?

Excel Facts

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
still can't get this to work. Any further explanations would be good.

BTW i'm using office XP

I thought that there was a simple way to place a picture behind the data on the sheet as a transparency or watermark, though I seem to be completely LOST this time, I believe there is an insert picture- image control command in office 2k that does this, but am struggling to find an equivalent in office xp/ excel 2002.
Current attempts leave picture ABOVE the data, even after using the send to back command. Am I missing something??

Thanks Steve W, eventually managed to lose the Monday morning feeling and got this way to work! Though must admit I am disappointed that this is the only simple way to achieve this- especially when there is a Word equivalent devoted to doing this.

Hi all,

One of the ways (thanks, Aaron Blood) is to paste picture link. I'm talking about Excel 2000.

But we have to use reverse logic: you create a watermark, do the coloring, transparency, all the things necessary, WordArt, etc and only THEN you select the data, copy. Push shift and superimpose the picture link with data on top of your watermark.

Works.

If you have a bitmap or jpeg of the word "DRAFT" then you can go to Format, Sheet, and then Background. This will insert the word Draft in your backgroung, although I don't think it prints. Otherwise, I've just used Word Art. I use a light grey outline with no fill...works great!

tbardoni's right, it won't print

check out the settings within your printer settings from the start menu in Windows..... mine all have a watermark option for printing
