I have a time row and below that a number count row.
If the time row had 12.30 on it and I wanted to place a number one below that (in another cell), it just copies 12.30 from the cell above instead of the 1

How do I prevent that from happening?
I use Linux openoffice.org spreadsheet on Linux

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Sorry, but your request just doesn't make sense. Can you try to explain further?

Hi, thanks for replying

In cell G7, I have the time wrote down as 12.30 and in the same column, but further down in G9, when I write the figure 1, it automatically writes 12.30 instead.

So, you just want to switch off Autocomplete?
Turn off automatic completion of cell values
If you don't want Excel to automatically complete cell values, you can turn off this feature.

1. Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Excel Options.
2. Click Advanced, and then under Editing options, clear or select the Enable AutoComplete for cell values check box to turn automatic completion of cell values on or off.

Thanks Glenn,
It wasn't quite the same with Linux, but with your help, I found it through Tools, Cell contents and then Autoinput
