Is there some way to have a cell that reports a date when a cell within an existing range has been populated?

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
If you search this site (search for something like; date time stamp range site:mrexcel.com), you'll find several threads on this topic. Unfortunately you gave no specifics as to what range of cells are modified and where you want the date stamps, etc.

This thread is a good one to start with, but there are many others. They are mostly variations on the same theme.

As columns A:D are populated with what stage a drawing is at, I want the date to automatically appear in E 2:5. I only need the date for the right most cell at each instance.

Worksheet event is used
Right click on Sheet Tab. Paste the below code.Close the window
If you make changes in range A2:D5, Same row E column gets Date of today.Range A2:D5 can be changed as per your requirement.

Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

Application.EnableEvents = False
If Not Intersect(Range("A2:D5"), Target) Is Nothing Then
    If Target <> "" Then
    Range("E" & Target.Row) = Date
    End If
End If
Application.EnableEvents = True

End Sub

Nice.
Thanks for that can I also output in Colum F the right most initials and each instance?
Also if A2 - D2 then get deleted and are blank, the date field goes back to blank?
