Hi everyone,

I am afraid to try to this so i figured i would ask here before i attempt. I have workbook1 that has formulas that are linked to another workbook2 and workbook2 is located in a different folder. I need to move workbook2 to the same folder that workbook1 is in.

If i cut or copy workbook2 to the same folder as workbook1 will i lose my links in workbook1? I want to maintain my links/formulas.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
If i cut or copy workbook2 to the same folder as workbook1 will i lose my links in workbook1?
In this case links in workbook1 will still refer to the old place of workbook2 which is the problem.
For correct changing the links do as follows:
1. Open both workbooks in Excel from it initial places/folders.
2. Select workbook2 and save it via File – Save As to the required folder. You may close it after that.
3. Save workbook1 (with new links now)
4. Delete workbook2 from its previous place/folder.

Vladimir,

It worked but for some reason it only worked for one worksheet in the workbook. Is it possible for all the worksheets in the workbook to change links?

Also, this may be a stretch and i should have noted this before but i have this issue with more than 1 workbook. Meaning, there are other workbooks that are linked to workbook2.

Would this method acommodate all workbooks that are open?

Thanks again

Open in Excel all linked workbooks and save each workbook via 'File - Save As' onto required folder.
After that delete old copies of workbooks from their previous folders.
