insert image URL images into CELLS

I was wondering if it would be possible to insert image urls as images into cells in excel? if so how?

Did you try typing the URL in the File name box on the Insert Picture dialog?

Hi Andrew,

That indeed does work however i have a list of image urls so was wondering if there was an automated way of inserting images into a cell e.g:

Column A would contain comic characters and Column B would contain the image urls (images in the corresponding cell)

I hope that makes sense?

Sorry, I don't know an automated way to insert an image without VBA.

If you had the URL of the image in a cell you could use that to programatically insert it. What are you trying to achieve exactly?

I want the actual image from the image url to be inserted alongside its corresponding cell e.g:

A1 would be "Spiderman" and B1 would be an image of Spiderman generated from a URL

but keep in mind there is a list of comic characters and a list of image urls

If the URL is in C1, this will put the image in B1 (tested in Excel 2003):
