Hi all,

I'm trying out some chart tricks as described here:

http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/RunChtLines.html

down the page it says

"Range D1:E4 was copied, the chart was selected, and Paste Special was used to add the data as a new series"

How do I paste special or even drag the values to the existing chart? (Using Excel 2007)

Thanks,Nigel

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
Jon Peltier's example I believe would be for Excel 2003 where it is possible to drag the data to a chart.
In Excel 2007/2010, copy the data range to the clipboard (Ctrl + C); select the chart (I normally go for the top-right corner to make sure that I select the chart object - but it may work if you select elsewhere); on the 'Home' tab on the ribbon, click the 'Paste' drop-down arrow and choose 'Paste Special' - you should now see a context-sensitive menu that mentions rows and columns.
