Find top 10 Most common numbers in list

Hello,

I have googled and searched all over for this.
Basically i am wanting to find the top 10 numbers that are repeated in a column.

I have a column with about 100-150 double digit numbers. I want to just find the most common numbers in the list and listed in order.. I have used the autofilter top 10 function but doesnt seem to be correct. am i just crazy or is there actually a different way to find the top 10 most repeated numbers?

If you mean the most frequently occurring numbers, consider:

A1:A20 houses a sample of the numeric data.

C2, control+shift+enter, not just enter, and copy down:

=MODE(IF(1-ISNUMBER(MATCH($A$2:$A$20,$C$1:C1,0)),$A$2:$A$20))

Copying down is done here until there is no more repeating numbers.

I sorted column A just so it'd be easier to see whcih values should be returned.

Enter this formula in C2:

=IFERROR(MODE(A2:A20),"")

Enter this array formua** in C3 and copy down as needed:

=IFERROR(MODE(IF(COUNTIF(C$2:C2,A$2:A$20)=0,A$2:A$20)),"")

** array formulas need to be entered using the key combination of CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just ENTER). Hold down both the CTRL key and the SHIFT key then hit ENTER.

Would anyone know how to do the exact same thing except for the 2016 version of excel? I can't seem to figure it out and the formulas here don't work for me.

version shouldn't be an issue . but I have a different suggestion pivot table
row field = numbers
value field = count of numbers

filter to show only top 10 (or whatever) by count of number , sort also by count of number

Note that this also works on a 2016 system.

Control+shift+enter >> Press down the control and the shift keys at the same time while you hit the enter key. If done properly, Excel itself puts a pair of { and } around the formula in recognition.

C2, control+shift+enter, not just enter, and copy down:

=MODE(IF(1-ISNUMBER(MATCH($A$2:$A$20,$C$1:C1,0)),$A$2:$A$20))

Copying down is done here until there is no more repeating numbers.

what if the fields in column A is a string or alphanumeric?
