Using VBA in Excel to export a .doc file to PDF

Currently I am working on an excel macro, which lets me convert several Excel and Word files to .PDF
(we usually combine the printed versions ourselves, but we would like to be able to offer the documents as PDF).

The part where I ask the user to select the needed files to convert I got working. As for the Excel-files: Got it working there too (they always have the same set-up as far as used sheets are concerned).

As far as doing it for the Word-files, I'm stuck there.
I figured I have to open the Word-files (which works), export to PDF (doesn't work) and then close Word again (which works).

Problem is: Both Word and Excel have a .ExportAsFixedFormat method, but they take different arguments. How do I make sure it tries to use the .ExportAsFixedFormat which is needed voor MS Word, rather then the one for Excel?

I added the code I'm using, the part where it goes wrong is under the 'export as PDF comment.

Hah, it appears I found the clue myself.

I added this:

Dim docWord As Word.Document
Set docWord = objWord.Documents.Open(locatie)

where I set Dim objWord

and changed the export line to:

docWord.ExportAsFixedFormat OutputFileName:="C:\wordtest.pdf", _
    ExportFormat:=wdExportFormatPDF

My code was referring to a Word.Application
The .ExportAsFixedFormat is a property connected to a Word.Document.

Hi, quick question: Which References need to be turned on to access ExportAsFixedFormat for Document. I have everything working fine, but get an error on ExportFormat:=wdExportFormatPDF Variable not set.

By the time you get to that point, you should have Microsoft Word Object Library selected already, yes?

Correct, but I do not have that property for Document object. I'm using Excel 2003

I did not explicitly use any references.
From what I know the ExportAsFixedFormat is new since office2007. If you happen to be using an older version, it will probably not work.

(the built-in SaveAs PDF is only since 2007 I think?)
