If Cell Contents equals "X" then Msg Box

I don't want to use Data Validation on this one.

I need to have a message box pop up if in the range A1:A100 a user types in "X" as the cell contents.

So basically, if A23="X", then message box appears. But if A23="Y" then nothing will happen.

Try this: right click the sheet tab, select View Code and paste in

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Intersect(Target, Range("A1:A100")) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
If Target.Value = "X" Then MsgBox "Aaargh!", vbExclamation
End Sub

then press ALT + Q to return to your sheet.
