Hi all,

I am having trouble with the 2003 Alt keys in 2007 ..
I have 2 computers (work & home)
The work computer works fine ... when i use same files on home computer some alt key features wont work?

Example Alt E S T .... (paste special formats)

Any ideas .... I've looked at sharing / protection ... cant find anything to fix it....

It cant be protection because the paste special formats works fine with a mouse or the new 2007 Alt key commands???

Just about ready to remove and re-install...

Any ideas..... ????

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.

In my Excel 2007, if I copy a cell then select another cell then:
Alt+E S T Enter
it still pastes formats only as I think you want.

What happens if you follow that whole sequence through?

Hi Peter,

I use this command every day at work ..... just wont work at home....

It recognises the ALT E ... but as soon as "S" is pressed .... commands just drop away ...

and all thats left is the cell flashing from the Cntrl C command earlier..

I can still use the mouse paste special format ...

There has to be a setting I am missing somewhere????

What about other commands? eg In a vacant cell, does
ALT+O E
bring up the Format cells dialog?

Yes ALT O E works fine .... most do ... just a few wont??

Insert row or column wont work .... ALT I R, ALT I C

I just cant figure it out???

I just cant figure it out???
Hmm, I'm strugglig too.

I can find no references to disabling/enabling these shortcuts. In any case, you would think they would all be disabled/enabled if it was possible at all. Since some are working, I can't see that any setting should have anything to with it.

I got you to test another shortcut in case there was a possibility your 'S' key was malfunctioning but with others not working as well that seems improbable.

All those shortcuts you have mentioned are working fine for me.

I can't think where to go from here. :cry:

Yes its weird, works ok at work..... also works using mouse..

I just removed Excel & reinstalled..... still not working?

When i opened excel after re-install it came up with add-in error?

not sure what the error was? .... that maybe where the error is?

I'll keep looking..

Thanks,

Keith

But Right mouse greyed out...

R/H mouse has greyed out .. Cut, Copy, Paste, Paste special, delete, clear contents

its almost like its protected .. but not all ways of doing it??

Sub EnableCopyCutAndPaste()
EnableControl 21, True ' cut
EnableControl 19, True ' copy
EnableControl 22, True ' paste
EnableControl 755, True ' pastespecial
Application.OnKey "^c"
Application.OnKey "^v"
Application.OnKey "+{DEL}"
Application.OnKey "+{INSERT}"
Application.CellDragAndDrop = True
Application.OnDoubleClick = ""
CommandBars("ToolBar List").Enabled = True
End Sub

Sub EnableControl(Id As Integer, Enabled As Boolean)
Dim CB As CommandBar
Dim C As CommandBarControl

On Error Resume Next
For Each CB In Application.CommandBars
Set C = CB.FindControl(Id:=Id, recursive:=True)
If Not C Is Nothing Then C.Enabled = Enabled
Next

End Sub

I ran this and it seems to be working OK now..

Thanks Andrew..
