Audit tools not available

One of my spreadsheets has lost the formula audit functionality. The icons are there for tracing dependent, precedent, etc. but the functionality is gone. It seems to be this file only. Does anyone have a idea what's going on should I elaborate.

Click the italics "fx" icon to the left of the formula bar to open the Functions Arguments dialog. Help is displayed for each argument.

The protection is off. The file has links to other files but they are all open. The other files' tracing tools work fine.

I got it to work. Somehow the properties for DisplayDrawingObjects was set to xlHide. Changed to display and all's well.
