Temporary solution for sharing your spreadsheet with other members.
Consider other alternatives such as Box.net
1. Zip up your Excel file. It must be in zip format.
2. Make sure that “MrExcelPostFile” is in the subject
3. The size of your file is limited to 1,000,000 bytes. 1 megabyte
4. Email it to (mrexcel@fuse.net)
5. When you recieve an automated reply, copy the entire link into your post. It will render if you have HTML enabled.
Example email that you will recieve:
Make sure you copy and paste the entire anchor. From the example email pictured above, you would copy and paste the following:
which would render:
MrExcelPostFileExpenses.xls.zip
From this URL, you should be able to download the atttachment you sent too me. I created a script in Outlook to watch for emails with attachments that contain “MrExcelPostFile” in the subject. If so, the script is supposed to automatically upload the attachment to a web server and reply with the URL. If it works, you are welcome to post as many attachments as you wish.
Note that a 1 meg zipped xls file may be much larger. Excel files compress extremely well for some reason.
I cannot guarantee that your file will be available for any length of time or at all for that matter. I am using the free web space that comes with my ISP package. There are bandwidth and space limitations that may not allow me to keep your files posted for any determined amount of time.
When I get a static IP address, the file type and size will not be as limited.
