Is there a particular way to copy and paste a subtotal list? I'm using subtotal and it works great. I select #2 to show only summary data, and now I want to copy the summary data to another sheet, but each time I try the data copied includes all data, and not just the summary that is displayed. Is there a way to copy and paste the displayed summary data only?

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
Go to:

1) View | Toolbars | Customize
2) Click the Commands tab
3) Choose the Edit category
4) Find the toolbar button for Select Visible Cells (looks like four black squares)
5) Drag it to a desired location on one of your toolbars
6) Close the dialog box.

Now you can:

1) select the cells you want to copy,
2) click this toolbar button,
3) enter Ctrl + C to copy the cells (the button does not copy, only select)
4) and enter Ctrl + V to paste the cells where desired.
5) Interestingly, this seems to automatically paste values only (rather than the subtotal formulas).

I sometime get confused by the Excel behavior when it comes to copying hidden rows, but I use this button when I want to be on the safe side. I find that when I try to copy subtotals I also get hidden rows copied if I don't use the select visible cells button first.

Regards

Problem is that 3) Ctrl + c and 4) Ctrl + v is already assigned to a macro and will not work. Is there an alternative to Ctrl + c and Ctrl + V?

using the mouse.

select your cells. edit | go to | special | visible cells only | copy | paste

...though I would add that it is unwise to replace standard keyboard shortcuts with custom macros.
